Solid Oak Tabletop

Yes. Each table is solid oak throughout - not veneer or oak-effect - responsibly sourced and finished to let the grain show through. Because it is a natural material, colour, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece, so no two tables look exactly alike.

Our tabletops are available pre-oiled with Habiol Wood Oil, a natural, biological finish that protects the timber and is ready to use on arrival. If you'd prefer to apply your own finish, we also offer a sanded (unfinished) option - just note that sanded tabletops should be oiled before use to prevent the timber from bowing or absorbing moisture.

Sanded tabletops must first be protected with a hardwearing oil. To maintain the finish, re-oil your tabletop with Habiol about once a year. For light surface marks, the Habiol Wood Care Kit is well suited for use between treatments. Full aftercare guidance can be found on our product care page.

This product is a tabletop sold as a surface only - legs are not included. You can add a compatible leg set to your order, but if you're looking for a complete table, our table sets are the most cost-effective way to buy and come with the top pre-drilled for easy assembly.

Most tabletops are delivered the next working day when ordered before 12pm Monday to Friday. Please note that the 1200 x 800mm x 40mm, 1500 x 600mm x 40mm, and 1500 x 800mm x 40mm sizes require 2-3 working days and are delivered with a two-person service. You'll receive an email confirmation with tracking once dispatched - you can also track your order at any time using your order number and email. Delivery charges are calculated at checkout based on the items in your order. Additional surcharges may apply to some areas, including the Scottish Highlands and offshore islands.

The grain pattern and any natural knots are set when the table is made - these give each piece its own character and won't change once it's in your home. What does develop gently over time is the colour, which continues to mature and deepen slightly. As a natural material, solid oak also responds to its surroundings and can expand a little in warmer conditions. Keeping the room at a stable humidity and away from direct heat - radiators, or underfloor heating running very warm - helps limit any movement.

Wood is the primary material in everything we make. Managed responsibly, it's a renewable resource - and we only work with suppliers who have established replanting programmes and full chain-of-custody certification. We work closely with our suppliers to maintain traceability from forest to finished piece.
