Desktops

Yes - we offer a cut-to-size service on most desktops. Cuts start at £15 for the first cut, with each additional cut at £10. Some bespoke services such as edge profiles or radius corners are priced differently. Full details and pricing can be found on our bespoke page.

Oiled tops arrive sealed and ready to use straight away. Sanded tops come bare and need finishing before use - solid wood should be sealed to protect it from moisture and marks, so you'll want to apply an oil or finish of your choice. It's a good route if you want to match an existing piece or prefer a particular sheen.

Most flat-topped fixed legs and standing desk frames pair well with our desktops - just check your frame's fixing spread and depth against the desktop dimensions before ordering. Standalone tops don't come pre-drilled, so you can position the frame yourself. If you'd rather skip that step, buying the top and frame together as a set means we pre-drill it to fit as standard. Send us your frame details if you'd like us to check compatibility.

Yes - a monitor arm is absolutely fine on a solid wood desktop. Most arms clamp to the back edge and need roughly 5-7cm of clear depth behind the clamp, so leave that allowance when planning your setup. One thing worth checking: a 40mm top gives the clamp screw more material to bite into than a 27mm, so if you're pairing an arm with one of our thinner desktops, keep the load moderate.

Care depends on the finish you choose. Oiled tops benefit from an occasional re-oil to keep them protected, while our premium oak is looked after differently and doesn't need regular oiling. You'll find the right routine for your top on its product page, and full aftercare guidance - including which products to use and how often - on our product care and maintenance page.

Yes - and a sanded top does need finishing before use, so it's worth knowing what's involved. A couple of coats of wood oil seals and protects the surface, and depending on the oil you choose, you may need to wait a few days before use while it cures. If you're in a hurry, or would rather skip the job altogether, an oiled top arrives sealed and ready to go.
